Your donation allows us to make our goals a reality. We propose to transform the Warren Ferris Cemetery into a neighborhood amenity with a walking trail, a wildlife and butterfly way station, special activities honoring the Dallas pioneers buried there and an educational resource for Alex Sanger Elementary School. It will become an inviting place to stroll, to learn, to sit, to contemplate.

It is estimated there are 5,500 abandoned historical cemeteries in Texas that could serve as broadening a corridor for wildlife. Adopt-A-Cemetery (working title) to help transition the landscape to a wildlife habitat as a means to honor the pioneers there. Volunteer Schedule in the Cemetery
 Summer months June through Sept., the first Saturday of every month, 9-11am. Fall - Winter months, October through May, the first Saturday of every month, 9m-12pm.

Landscape Architect Michael Parkey will start each volunteer day scouting for new native emergence to identify followed by removal of invasive plants and other landscape maintenance.

Please feel free to come for all or part of the volunteer sessions as your schedule allows. Proper social distancing protocols will be observed. Bring your own virus protection measures as you see fit, including masks and garden gloves. Don't forget to bring plenty of drinking water.
